WHY High-Throughput?

We are interested in the merger of high-throughput experimentation (HTE) with data science to drive next-generation chemical synthesis. Using state-of-the-art automated technologies, the HTE platform provides an opportunity for rapid reaction development, novel reaction discovery and prediction of chemical reactivity.

Our group works with state-of-the-art equipment to explore application of our methodologies to high-throughput reaction development, including a Mosquito high-throughput pipetting robot, a brand-new triple quad mass spectrometer with multiple reaction monitoring, and bespoke constructions to enable e.g. irradiation of microwell plates. With that, dozens of reaction conditions can be screened in parallel to rapidly identify best candidates.

We are also part of the SynTech Centre for Doctoral Training.

SynTech is short for Automated Chemical Synthesis Enabled by Digital Molecular Technologies. The aim of the CDT is to bring together a diverse group of chemists, chemical engineers, theoreticians and data-scientists of all backgrounds, to create a broad understanding of how we can accelerate and improve the molecule-making process.
